NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Defence on Monday signed a contract with a agency for modernisation of Naval Aircraft Yards (NAYs) at Goa and Kochi at a price of almost Rs 470 crore, officers stated.

The NAYs undertake servicing and repairs of naval plane, aero engines, rotables and check gear at Goa and Kochi, the ministry stated in an announcement.

The ministry signed a contract with Ultra Dimensions Pvt.Ltd. (UDPL), Vishakhapatnam for “modernisation of Naval Aircraft Yards (NAYs) at Goa and Kochi, at a cost of approximately Rs 470 crore”, it stated.

Induction of the newest state-of-the-art plane into the Indian Navy stock requires modernisation of present upkeep and restore services at NAYs to bridge the technological and functionality hole to fulfill the current and future aviation upkeep challenges, officers stated.

The modernisation contains restore services with state-of-the-art automated machineries and composite restore bays. This challenge will generate employment of greater than 1.8 lakh man-days over a interval of three years, it stated.

“The modernisation will augment operational readiness of naval aviation platforms and reduce dependence on external agencies and foreign original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for repairs. This project will be a proud flag bearer of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’,” the assertion stated.

In addition, the Ministry of Defence has inked a contract with Mecon Ltd, Ranchi, as a challenge monitoring advisor at a price of Rs 24 crore, it stated.

Meanwhile, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Friday tweeted: “HAL registers highest-ever income from operations of round Rs. 26,500 Crores (provisional and unaudited) for FY 2022-23 as in opposition to Rs.24,620 for the earlier FY.

The Company has recorded a income progress of 8% throughout the yr as in comparison with final yr.
