Centre rushes high-level well being groups to Maharashtra, Punjab amid rise in Covid instances

The Centre has rushed high-level multi-disciplinary public well being groups to Maharashtra and Punjab in view of the rise in variety of day by day COVID-19 instances being reported by these states.

The groups are being deployed to help State Health Departments in coronavirus surveillance, management and containment measures, the Union well being ministry mentioned.

The high-level workforce to Maharashtra shall be led by P Ravindran, Sr CMO, Disaster Management Cell, MOHFW. While the general public well being workforce to Punjab shall be led by S Okay Singh, Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, it mentioned.

The groups will go to the (COVID-19) hotspot areas within the states and confirm causes for the surge in instances, the ministry mentioned. According to the ministry information, there are 6,661 lively coronavirus instances in Punjab and 90,055 instances in Maharashtra.
