NEW DELHI: The CBI questioned Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram for the third consecutive day on Saturday in reference to its probe into the alleged Rs 50-lakh bribery for issuance of 263 venture visas to Chinese employees concerned within the building of the Talwandi Sabo energy venture in 2011, officers mentioned.

He arrived on the CBI headquarters early within the morning to face the investigation staff. The questioning is more likely to proceed all through the day with a lunch break, they mentioned. The CBI is questioning Karti Chidambaram since Thursday within the 11-year previous case which the Congress chief has termed as “most bogus” and a results of “political vendetta”.

The case is of 2011 when his father P Chidambaram was the Union Home Minister. The CBI had registered an FIR on May 14 towards Karti and others over allegations of a Rs 50-lakh bribe being paid to him and his shut affiliate S Bhaskararaman by a prime govt of Vedanta group firm Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd (TSPL) for re-issuance of Project Visa for 263 Chinese employees, the CBI FIR mentioned.

TSPL was establishing an influence plant in Punjab. Projects visas have been a particular kind of visas launched in 2010 for the ability and metal sector, detailed pointers for which have been issued throughout P Chidambaram’s tenure as Union residence minister. However, there was no provision for re-issue of venture visas, the FIR has alleged. The company has already arrested Bhaskararaman in reference to the case.
