CBI conducts searches at Gujarat IAS officer’s premises in bribery case, arrests his aide

AHMEDABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches on the residence and different premises of Gujarat cadre IAS officer Okay Rajesh in reference to the allegations of bribery in opposition to him, the company mentioned on Friday.

The searches had been carried out late Thursday night time on the bureaucrat’s residence in Gandhinagar and another premises in Surat in addition to at his native place in Andhra Pradesh, the CBI mentioned in a press release.

Mohammed Rafiq Memon, who acted because the IAS officer’s intermediary and who used to gather bribe cash for him, has been arrested from Surat, it mentioned.

Rajesh, a 2011-batch IAS officer, presently serves because the joint secretary within the General Administration Department of the Gujarat authorities in Gandhinagar.

Recently, the CBI had acquired a criticism that when he was the collector of Surendranagar district, Rajesh had allegedly taken bribe in land offers and in sanctioning weapon licenses to ineligible individuals, the central company added.

The bribe cash used to achieve him by way of his intermediary Memon, a service provider based mostly in Surat, the CBI mentioned.
