KRISHNAGANJ: The household of Ila Mandal, who died at a border village in West Bengal’s Nadia district, needed her family members on the opposite aspect of the barbed wires to see her for a final time.

Her dying want was fulfilled as BSF organized to take the physique to the Zero Point on the border the place her family members from Bangladesh had been ready for a final glimpse of the 70-year-old lady.

Mandal, a resident of Matiari village in Krishnaganj police station space, died on Thursday.

Many of her family members stay in Chuadanga on the opposite aspect of the border in Bangladesh.

Mandal’s household reached out to the border drive, requesting permission in order that their Bangladeshi family members handle to pay homage to her physique earlier than it’s cremated.

The BSF quickly received in contact with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), which organized for the family members to go to the Zero Point.

The BSF helped the household in bringing the physique to the spot the place they paid their final respect.

“Besides guarding the border, BSF also stays with the people in their pain and pleasure,” stated Desh Raj Singh, the BSF commanding officer of the realm.

Tens of hundreds of households had been break up when India was partitioned in 1947, resulting in the creation of East Pakistan — which subsequently grew to become Bangladesh.

West Bengal shares a 2,217-km-long border with Bangladesh, in addition to language, tradition and culinary habits.
