Bird flu in Kerala: Panic grips state, govt orders culling of birds in two districts

The Kerala state authorities has ordered culling of birds in two districts following an outbreak of fowl flu within the area. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday stated that fowl flu has been declared as ‘state-specific catastrophe’ and the administration is taking applicable steps to manage the illness. Kerala was the primary state in India to report the primary Coronavirus case final 12 months.

Rapid response groups, arrange by the administration, started culling geese, hens and different home birds in and round a one km radius of the affected areas in Alappuzha and Kottayam districts on Tuesday morning as per the rules issued by the federal government, information company PTI reported quoting officers.

Around 1,700 geese had died in a farm in Neendoor as a result of viral an infection.

Meanwhile, precautionary steps  have additionally been taken in neighbouring Tamil Nadu. The state authorities have elevated surveillance on the inter-state borders and introduced a contingency plan for the administration of potential human instances.

“As the Avian influenza spreads rapidly, there could be a likelihood of the humans getting affected. So, as a precaution, the directorate general of health services has evolved a contingency plan for the management of human cases,” Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan stated.

Tamil Nadu has additionally stopped entry of autos carrying poultry from Kerala from Tuesday.
