Birbhum arson: CBI information two cost sheets in March 21 violence, TMC chief’s loss of life

NEW DELHI: The CBI has filed two separate cost sheets within the killing of TMC chief Bhadu Sheikh and the arson allegedly triggered by it by which 10 individuals had been burnt to loss of life in Bogtui village of West Bengal’s Birbhum district on March 21, officers stated on Monday.

The CBI has named 4 individuals as accused in its cost sheet filed within the homicide of Bhadu Sheikh whereas 18 individuals, together with TMC chief Anarul Hussain and two juveniles, have been named within the arson case, they stated.

Ten individuals, together with girls and kids, had been burnt to loss of life on the night time of March 21 when their homes in Bogtui village had been fire-bombed by a mob in retaliation to the killing of TMC chief Bhadu Sheikh in a crude bomb assault that night.

“On March 21, 2022, whereas the complainant was having tea at a store in Bogtui ‘More’ round 8:30 pm, his brother Bhadu Sheikh (a deputy pradhan of the Barsal gram panchayat) was talking over the cellphone sitting on a bike.

“It was alleged that the accused threw bomb targeting the head of his brother (Bhadu Sheikh) and on being hit on his head, his brother fell on the ground,” CBI spokesperson RC Joshi stated. It was additionally alleged that they saved throwing extra bombs aiming at Bhadu Sheikh, he stated.

The company has named Palash Khan alias Faizul Khan, Sanju Sheikh alias Nur Islam Seikh, Safi Seikh alias Safizul Seikh and Mahi Seikh alias Mahirul Seikh within the cost sheet associated to the homicide. The CBI had taken over the investigation of the case, following an order of the Calcutta High Court.

In its cost sheet associated to Bogtui violence and arson, the federal probe company has alleged that it was a “direct fallout” of the killing of Bhadu Sheikh.

It has been alleged that after Bhadu Sheikh was killed, his loyalists and group members armed with sharp weapons, crude bombs and country-made firearms went on a rampage burning the homes of rivals within the village.

The CBI has alleged that rivalry was amongst teams of Bhadu Sheikh and Palash Sheikh and Sona Sheikh for dominance within the space and management over the earnings from unlawful assortment of cash from business automobiles and different illegal actions had existed for a very long time.

It has been alleged that followers of Sheikh ransacked the homes of rival teams in Bogtui and set them ablaze aspiring to kill the individuals inside and household, Joshi stated. The identities of the deceased had been established by way of DNA sampling. “In the initial stage of the investigation, the village was almost deserted and no witness was forthcoming due to fear. Many witnesses had taken shelter in other villages. After sustained efforts, several witnesses came forward and their statements were recorded,” Joshi stated.
