Bihar’s Minority Welfare Minister Jama Khan of the JD (U) has stated that his ancestors had been Rajputs from Rajasthan.
In Hajipur on Thursday night time, Khan was responding to reporters’ queries over alleged conversions in Uttar Pradesh.
Khan, the lone BSP MLA from Chainpur (Kaimur) who lately joined the JD(U) and have become a minister, stated: “My ancestors were from Rajasthan and they were Rajputs. They had converted to Islam later.”
He added that his ancestors Bhagwan Singh and his youthful brother Jay Ram Singh had been higher caste Rajputs who had come to Kaimur within the 14th century. He stated that whereas his direct ancestor Bhagwan Singh transformed to Islam, his brother Jay Ram Singh remained a Hindu.

“I still have Hindu relatives in Saraiya village, close to my Naughara village in Chainpur area of Kaimur,” stated the minister.
