Avalanche in Uttarakhand: ITBP rescues all 16 individuals trapped in Tapovan tunnel

New Delhi: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Monday rescued all 16 individuals who have been trapped within the tunnel close to the Tapovan space following a glacier burst within the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the officers mentioned on Sunday.
The ITBP was finishing up the rescue operation on the tunnel close to Tapovan dam in Chamoli to rescue trapped individuals.
At least 9 our bodies have been recovered from the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) web site within the Tapovan space, knowledgeable SS Deswal, Director General, ITBP.

“It is suspected that around 100 workers were at the site out of which, 9-10 dead bodies have been recovered from the river,” he mentioned.
“An avalanche near Tapovan in Uttarakhand has damaged a part of our under-construction hydropower project in the region. While rescue operation is on, the situation is being monitored continuously with the help of district administration and police,” the NTPC mentioned.

Meanwhile, seven Navy diving groups are on standby for the flash flood aid operations within the state, mentioned the Navy officers.
