All girls entitled to secure, authorized abortion, says Supreme Court

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday held that each one girls, no matter their marital standing, are entitled to secure and authorized abortion until 24 weeks of being pregnant below the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act.
A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, JB Pardiwala and AS Bopanna delivered the decision on the interpretation of the MTP Act, and whether or not single or single girls will be allowed like their married counterparts the good thing about abortion as much as 24 weeks.
The high courtroom mentioned the excellence between married and single girls below the abortion legal guidelines is “artificial and constitutionally unsustainable” and perpetuates the stereotype that solely married lady are sexually energetic.
The bench, on August 23, had reserved its verdict on interpretation of the MTP Act provisions which makes a distinction between married and single girls on the difficulty of abortion until 24 weeks of being pregnant.
