All-party assembly on caste-based census in Bihar rescheduled for June 1

PATNA: The all-party assembly on the caste-based census in Bihar has been rescheduled for June 1. Earlier, it was determined to convene a gathering on the problem on May 27. According to authoritative sources within the chief minister’s workplace, the assembly can be held at Samvad at 4 pm. The leaders of all political events have been invited to the assembly to share their views on the problem.

Deputy chief minister and BJP chief Tarkishore Prasad stated that the BJP would take part within the all-party meet scheduled for June 1. “The BJP leadership will decide the name of the party’s representative for the meeting,” he added.

The all-party assembly can be adopted by cabinet approval on the proposal to carry a caste-based census within the state from its personal sources. The demand for a caste-based census has been pending for a very long time. Earlier, the proposal was handed by the state legislature twice.

On Monday chief minister Nitish Kumar had stated {that a} ultimate resolution on the date of the all-party assembly can be introduced after session with leaders of political events. However, many of the leaders had earlier agreed on May 27.

Sources stated the assembly has been rescheduled on account of nominations for the Rajya Sabha, which began on Tuesday. The final date of nomination is May 31 and scrutiny of papers can be completed on June 1. The chief of the opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav had met Nitish and held a closed-door assembly on the problem of a caste-based census within the state.
