3.1 magnitude tremor close to Statue of Unity in Gujarat; no casualty or harm

AHMEDABAD: A tremor of three.1 magnitude was recorded close to Kevadia village in Gujarat’s Narmada district, however there was no report of any casualty or property harm, officers stated on Tuesday.

The 182-meter tall Statue of Unity is situated close to the Kevadia village. The tremor was recorded on Monday night time. There was no harm to the Statue of Unity, which is in-built such a approach that it might probably stand up to highly effective earthquakes and cyclones, the monument’s public relations officer Rahul Patel stated.

The epicentre of the tremor was 12 km east-southeast of Kevadia, the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) stated in a press release.

“A 3.1 magnitude tremor was recorded at 10.07 pm on Monday with its epicentre 12 km east-southeast (ESE) of Kevadia in south Gujarat.

It was recorded at a depth of 12.7 km,” the ISR stated. There was no report of any casualty or harm to property within the area as a result of tremor, district administration officers stated.
