2 journalists arrested for try and ‘malign’ Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

Two journalists have been arrested on Wednesday for his or her alleged try and malign Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after they shared a photograph of him alongside together with his daughter with a “salacious intent”, police stated.
Taufiquddin Ahmad, the Editor-in-Chief of native information web site Pratibimba Live, and its News Editor Iqbal have been arrested to research the “conspiracy”, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) GP Singh stated.
Police would take sturdy motion in opposition to all such makes an attempt underneath stringent provisions of the POCSO Act, he stated.
They have been arrested on the idea of a case registered on the Dispur police station underneath IPC part 509 (desiring to insult the modesty of any lady), and sections 14 and 21 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he stated.

“Action shall be taken against all persons irrespective of their place of residence who use any of the social media platforms to maliciously use such platforms for furthering this conspiracy,” Singh added.
The web site had shared a photograph of the minister hugging his daughter, following which it went viral on social media.
The web site later apologised for not mentioning that the woman within the photograph was the minister’s daughter and blamed others for sharing it with the intent to defame Sarma.
The information outlet obtained backlash for the intent to publish the photograph with Sarma retweeting it and mentioning that it was him and his daughter.

Police stated they’re investigating the matter to determine these behind the publish going viral.
