10 Bhopal fuel tragedy survivors finish quick after getting govt assurance

BHOPAL: Ten ladies survivors of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy demanding further compensation for the catastrophe victims have referred to as off their starvation strike after getting optimistic response from each the Madhya Pradesh and Union governments, their leaders stated.

They had launched the starvation strike at Neelam Park within the state capital on Friday.

The ten ladies agitators broke their 29-hour-long quick on Saturday with fruit juice supplied by officers of the state authorities and district administration.

The Bhopal Gas Tragedy passed off on the intervening evening of December 2-3, 1984 when toxic methyl isocyanate fuel leaked from the Union Carbide pesticide manufacturing unit in Bhopal, leaving a number of thousand folks lifeless and lakhs injured.

Five organisations that are combating for the reason for the Gas Tragedy victims in an announcement on Saturday stated the Madhya Pradesh Minister of Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief & Rehabilitation expressed settlement with the details and figures offered by them and promised to finalise particulars in a gathering on January 4.

Earlier, the Union authorities had assured that each one the paperwork put forth by them could be included within the papers to be offered earlier than the Supreme Court bench listening to a healing petition for extra compensation, they stated.

“Despite all odds and many disappointments of the last 38 years, we hope the New Year has begun with a hope for the survivors of the world’s worst industrial disaster,” the assertion stated.

The agitators have been from the Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationery Karmchari Sangh, Bhopal Gas Peedit Nirashrit Pensionbhogee Sangharsh Morcha, Bhopal Group for Information & Action, Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Purush Sangharsh Morcha and Children Against Dow Carbide.
