New Delhi. Rajkumar Santoshi, director of the famous film ‘Damini’, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by the court of Jamnagar, Gujarat. The matter is related to check bounce. Ashok Lal, a resident of Jamnagar and owner of Shreeji Shipping, had given Rs 1 crore to Rajkumar Santoshi in 2015 to make a film. Rajkumar had given 10 checks of Rs 10 lakh each to Ashok Lal to repay the loan, which later bounced. Not only this, when Ashok Lal tried to contact Rajkumar Santoshi, he was not available, after which Ashok Lal filed a case in the court.

The court issued summons to Rajkumar Santoshi in this case and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000-15,000 on every check bounce. At first Rajkumar did not accept the summons, when he accepted the summons he did not appear in the court during the hearing. On this, Jamnagar Court on Saturday not only sentenced Rajkumar Santoshi to two years in jail, but also directed him to pay Rs 2 crore instead of Rs 1 crore.
