Prominent Bollywood celebrities, together with actors Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, and filmmaker Onir on Wednesday hailed journalist Priya Ramani’s acquittal in MJ Akbar’s felony defamation case over allegations of sexual harassment. Taking to Twitter, Pannu stated that the decision had instilled her religion in justice at a time when the world appeared bleak.

Chadha wrote, “Hope Mr Burns spends the rest of his disgraced days in a radioactive den.”

Ramani had made an allegation of sexual misconduct towards Akbar within the wake of #MeToo motion in 2018. In response, Akbar had filed the grievance towards Ramani for allegedly defaming him by accusing him of sexual misconduct a long time in the past.
Onir referred to as the Delhi courtroom’s verdict a “milestone judgement”.
