Niall Horan says One Direction followers made him really feel ‘like a prisoner’

WASHINGTON: Singer-songwriter Niall Horan not too long ago revealed that he typically felt “like a prisoner” as a member of the favored boy band One Direction because of the fervent followers that the group had.

As per People journal, in a current episode of ‘People, Just People’ with British host Dermot O’Leary, the 27-year-old hitmaker revealed that he typically felt “like a prisoner” throughout his time with the group, which included fellow members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne.

Though the group didn’t win throughout their time competing on Simon Cowell’s singing competitors ‘The X Factor’, they grew to become a global sensation in 2011 after showing on the present.

However, their reputation attracted hundreds of followers who typically invaded their privateness throughout press excursions and different events.

“I struggled with the idea of, ‘Why won’t you just let us out?'” he stated of the situations by which followers can be “banging on car windows before we could get out of the vehicle. I was thinking, ‘We just want to go for a walk,’ you know?”

“But, you can’t get inside the brain of a fan and now I completely get it, but at the time, you’re like, ‘You’re our age. Just let us out.'” he instructed the host.

He added, “I wanted to say, ‘We just want to walk down the street. You must understand.'”

Horan went on to element his expertise throughout One Direction’s first all-stadium tour, ‘Where We Are’, which was worldwide and spanned from April 25, 2014, to October 5, 2014.

“I vividly recall being in all these amazing cities, but not being able to see them because fans would surround our hotel,” he stated.

The band couldn’t benefit from the easy pleasures of sightseeing or grabbing a chunk in public as a result of followers would intrude. “The police had done a headcount and there were 10,000 people in the street the whole time,” stated the star.

Though it was not fulfilling for Horan, and sure his mates, to really feel trapped due to One Direction’s aggressive superfan base, it’s no shock that music listeners have been so drawn to the quintet.

One Direction launched six prime 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and a complete of 29 fan-favourites that earned a spot on the listing. In 2012, their album ‘Up All Night’ peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and remained on the listing for 105 weeks.

One Direction took a hiatus in 2015, following Malik’s exit from the band. Since their disbandment in August 2015, Horan, Styles, Malik, Tomlinson and Payne have every launched solo tasks.

Horan launched his second solo album ‘Heartbreak Weather’ final 12 months, which included the one ‘Nice to Meet Ya’.
