Filmmaker Steve McQueen honoured with Royal Knighthood

LONDON: Oscar-winning British director Steve McQueen obtained his knighthood on Tuesday at Windsor Castle and can now be recognized within the UK as Sir Steve McQueen.

According to Variety, with Queen Elizabeth II rising more and more frail, her daughter Princess Anne needed to step in to current McQueen with the honour. The famed director had reportedly attended the ceremony along with his mom, Mary.

McQueen, who grew to become the primary Black filmmaker to win an Oscar for greatest image with ’12 Years a Slave’, additionally received a BAFTA and Golden Globe for the movie.

At the tip of 2020, he had launched the bold five-part movie sequence ‘Small Axe’, which follows a number of West Indian immigrants as they navigate life in London between the Sixties and Nineteen Eighties.

As per Variety, his subsequent venture, a characteristic referred to as ‘Blitz’, is ready to enter manufacturing this 12 months with New Regency. McQueen’s manufacturing firm Lammas Park will produce alongside Working Title Films.
