Bengal cinema theatres hope for flip round with launch of Monster Hunter

Single screens and multiplexes of West Bengal, which have been reeling underneath the COVID-19 pandemic for months, are hoping for a flip round with the all India launch of a 3D film on February 5. The film, Monster Hunter, will likely be launched in 50 theatres, each multiplexes and single screens, within the state, movie distributor Satadeep Saha mentioned.
Directed by Paul W S Anderson, the Hollywood film starring Tony Jaa and Milla Jovovich has been dubbed in three Indian languages together with Hindi.
All theatres had been badly hit as a consequence of very poor viewers turnout because the services opened in October amid the COVID-19 scenario and restrictions on occupancy numbers, mentioned Saha, who can also be the proprietor of a single display.

“We are definitely expecting good number of footfalls as there are reports that the central government has lifted the 50 per cent cap on occupancy in movie halls. We hope that the state government will also issue a notification in this regard soon,” he instructed PTI.
During the Kolkata International Film Festival held earlier this month, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee granted permission to have 100 per cent occupancy in theatres. But no notification has been issued until now.
Navin Chokhani, the proprietor of the only display Navina, additionally expressed hope that Monster Hunter, which relies on a online game, will set off a surge within the turnout of viewers.

“With raised occupancy limit and such big time productions, the situation will change for the better. But we need Hindi film producers to come up with big releases now. Only Bengali and English releases won’t do,” Chokhani mentioned.
Arijit Dutta, the proprietor of Priya cinema, mentioned that until there are huge time releases from producers of Mumbai and Kolkata, there will likely be no drastic change within the current scenario.
