THE POWER Ministry has given its nod to ‘tolling’, whereby states can allot as much as 25 per cent of their coal provide to thermal energy crops in different states, which may then transmit electrical energy to the state with the linkage to cut back the necessity to transport coal.
Using this facility, states will be capable to utilise their coal linkage in crops nearer to mines, which may then transmit electrical energy decreasing, the necessity to transport coal.

High worldwide coal costs have put elevated strain on the home coal provide chain as electrical energy provided from imported coal-based crops has fallen, at the same time as demand rises as a result of onset of the summer time season.

“In order to avoid long-distance coal transport in respect of certain state gencos, tolling facility would be allowed up to 25 per cent of linkage coal,” the Power Ministry stated in an announcement on Wednesday.

Power Minister R Okay Singh reviewed the operations of imported coal-based crops and directed states to make sure that such crops function at “ fair and reasonable tariffs.”
