Recognising commerce union as negotiating council: Draft guidelines printed

The Labour Ministry on Tuesday printed draft guidelines for recognition of commerce unions within the function of negotiating council beneath the Industrial Relations (IR) Code.
These guidelines are along with the already printed draft guidelines for the IR Code which have been circulated in October final yr. The draft guidelines notified Tuesday spell out standards for recognising a single registered commerce union of employees as sole negotiating union of employees beneath Section 14 of the IR Code.
“Where there is only one registered Trade Union operating in an industrial establishment having its members not less than thirty percent of the total workers employed in the industrial establishment, then, the employer of such industrial establishment shall recognize such Trade Union as sole negotiating union of the workers,” it stated.

Also, commerce unions must meet circumstances like offering copy of registration certificates, copy of checklist of members, particulars of membership subscription and duplicate of the most recent annual return submitted to the Registrar of Trade Unions.
