Jet Airways granted air operator certificates, can resume business flight operations: DGCA

1 min read

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted Jet Airways — grounded since 2019 — the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) on Friday, permitting it to renew business flight operations.

DGCA chief Arun Kumar stated the “AOC” has been “granted” to Jet Airways, reported information company PTI.

The Naresh Goyal-founded Jet Airways, which operated its first business flight on May 5, 1993 flew commercially for the final time on April 18, 2019 because it collapsed beneath a pile of debt. The firm then entered chapter proceedings, and was acquired by a consortium of UAE-based businessman Murari Jalan and UK-based Kalrock Capital. The consortium has dedicated to a funding of $180 million, of which $60 million will probably be used to repay the airline’s current dues.

With DGCA officers onboard, Jet Airways had efficiently operated 5 proving flights on May 15 and 17 and intends to restart its business flight operations within the July-September quarter.
