2 min read

I’ve retired from an autonomous school below Delhi University on 31 March 2021. I withdrew my contributory PF, which is maintained by school belief, on 30 April 2021. Will the school pay me curiosity for the month of April? I retired on the age of 65 after a steady service of practically 35 years.

Clause 2(b) of Paragraph 60 of the Employees’ Provident Funds Scheme, 1952 states that within the case of a declare for the refund below paragraph 69 or 70, curiosity shall be payable as much as the tip of the month previous the date on which the ultimate cost is allowed regardless of the date of receipt of the declare from the claimant involved.

Since the given scenario falls below Paragraph 69 which incorporates retirement from service after attaining of the age of 55 years, the provisions of clause 2(b) could be relevant for the aim of dedication of curiosity and accordingly, the curiosity could be computed as much as the month previous the month wherein ultimate cost is allowed. For occasion, if the ultimate cost is allowed within the month of April, solely curiosity as much as the month of March could be taken under consideration. In this case, it’s the date of authorization of the ultimate cost and never the date of withdrawal which is to be considered for the aim of dedication of curiosity.
