Google says workers flouting vaccination guidelines will ultimately be fired

1 min read

Alphabet Inc’s Google advised its workers they might lose pay and ultimately be fired if they don’t comply with its Covid-19 vaccination guidelines, CNBC reported on Tuesday, citing inside paperwork.
A memo circulated by Google’s management stated workers had till December 3 to declare their vaccination standing and add documentation exhibiting proof, or to use for a medical or spiritual exemption, in response to the report.
After that date, Google stated it could begin contacting workers who had not uploaded their standing or have been unvaccinated and people whose exemption requests weren’t authorised, CNBC reported.
Employees who haven’t complied with the vaccination guidelines by January 18 might be positioned on “paid administrative leave” for 30 days, CNBC reported, adopted by “unpaid personal leave” for as much as six months and termination.
Google didn’t instantly reply to a Reuters request for remark.
Earlier this month, Google delayed its return-to-office plan indefinitely amid Omicron variant fears and a few resistance from its workers to company-mandated vaccinations. It earlier anticipated workers to return to workplace for about three days per week from January 10.
