Dec quarter: Total telecom subscriber base falls once more

The complete variety of telecom subscribers, comprising each wi-fi and wireline customers, within the nation fell for the second quarter in a row within the October-December 2021 interval, information launched by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) confirmed.

During this quarter, the whole variety of telecom customers in India stood at 1.17 billion, down 0.9 per cent from the earlier quarter. Of the whole consumer base, the variety of wi-fi subscribers stood at 1.15 billion, which was practically 1 per cent down on quarter, whereas the variety of wireline subscribers grew practically 3 per cent to 23.8 million, Trai information confirmed.

The July-September 2021 quarter too had registered a 1.1 per cent fall in complete telecom consumer base, with the same development of fall in wi-fi subscribers however an increase in wireline subscribers. In this era, complete wi-fi subscribers in stood at 1.16 billion, down 1.2 per cent over the earlier quarter, whereas wireline subscribers had risen 6.4 per cent to 23.1 million.
