A US politician has stirred controversy by making contentious remarks concerning a statue of Lord Hanuman. Alexander Duncan, a Republican Party leader in Texas, has been criticized for his comments regarding the 90-foot-tall statue of the Hindu deity in an American city. Duncan voiced objections to the statue’s presence, declaring the US to be a Christian nation.
Duncan wrote on X: ‘Why are we allowing a false statue of a false Hindu God to be here in Texas? We are a CHRISTIAN nation!’ This was accompanied by a video of the statue located at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, Texas.
In a subsequent post, the Trump-aligned politician referenced the Bible, stating, ‘Thou shalt have no other gods before me.’ Duncan is a candidate for the Texas Senate. Duncan’s remarks were met with swift and intense reactions on social media.
