India’s military prowess is set for a major leap forward with the US sanctioning two critical defense deals worth USD 93 million. These acquisitions introduce the formidable Javelin anti-tank missile system and the highly accurate M982A1 Excalibur artillery munitions into the Indian Army’s arsenal. The Javelin, a globally recognized ‘fire-and-forget’ weapon, will equip Indian soldiers with the ability to destroy enemy tanks from over two kilometers away. Its self-guided infrared system allows operators to immediately disengage after firing, significantly improving soldier survivability. Simultaneously, the Excalibur rounds are set to revolutionize artillery operations, transforming them into precision-strike tools capable of hitting targets dozens of kilometers away with GPS-guided accuracy. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency stated that these systems will enhance India’s capacity to address current and future threats, strengthening the strategic ties between the two nations. By bolstering its precision strike capabilities and replenishing existing arsenals, India is significantly enhancing its deterrence posture and readiness in South Asia.
