Donald Trump has announced his intention to sue The Wall Street Journal, NewsCorp, and Rupert Murdoch over a published story regarding Jeffrey Epstein and their alleged relationship. The article in question, as per Trump, included a false claim of a suggestive letter penned by Trump to Epstein. Trump has denied writing the letter, asserting it is a complete fabrication.
Trump claims he personally warned Rupert Murdoch and Emma Tucker, editor of The Wall Street Journal, about the falsehood, but the publication proceeded regardless. He expressed his intention to hold the press accountable, citing previous legal successes as evidence. Trump criticized the Wall Street Journal, describing it as a ‘Disgusting and Filthy Rag,’ and accused it of publishing defamatory lies to remain relevant. Trump has also stated that if any truth was present about his connection to Epstein, it would have been revealed years ago.
The center of the controversy is a note bearing Trump’s name and a drawing included in a collection of letters gifted to Epstein. Trump has stated that he did not write the letter or draw the picture. Epstein, who faced sex trafficking charges, was later found dead in his jail cell, with the cause of death ruled as suicide.
