Former US President Donald Trump has stated that Hamas has been given a limited period of three to four days to provide a response to a proposed peace agreement. He highlighted the agreement of Arab nations, Muslim countries, and Israel, with Hamas’s consent as the final requirement. Trump cautioned that a negative response from Hamas could lead to severe repercussions.
Trump stressed his focus on the immediate release of all hostages and the necessity for Hamas to act responsibly. He described the undertaking as significant, extending beyond the Gaza region and influencing the entire Middle East.
Trump put forward a 20-point plan to resolve the conflict in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also voiced his support. The focus is on Hamas’s reaction. The initiative has been welcomed by leaders in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Egypt, who view it as a potential opportunity for regional peace, provided the conditions are met and a safe release of hostages is guaranteed.
The key conditions of the deal are clear and strict. Hamas must disarm its armed wing and cease all military activities. Tunnels and weapons-making facilities will be demolished. Hamas will be excluded from any political roles in future governing bodies. Amnesty may be granted to Hamas members who choose peaceful paths and publicly apologize.
Israeli forces will withdraw from Gaza in stages, and borders will be opened to allow humanitarian aid and investment. Hamas is required to release the 20 living hostages and the remains of two dozen deceased hostages within 72 hours. The deal also includes a provision for exchanging hostages for hundreds of Gazans.
If Hamas rejects the deal, Israel will have full backing from the US. The plan’s objectives include removing explosive devices from Gaza, establishing a stable civilian administration, and working toward long-term stability in the region.
