Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he prevented a war between India and Pakistan from escalating, potentially to a nuclear level. Speaking at the White House, Trump claimed he had stopped seven wars globally. He described how he used tariffs and trade to end these conflicts, including the one between India and Pakistan. Trump claimed that he told them he would put on a 100 percent tariff and then they stopped. In the context of the India-Pakistan conflict, Trump said seven fighter jets were shot down, and he threatened to halt trade if the fighting continued. He said the situation was resolved within 24 hours. The former president did not specify the country of origin of the downed aircraft. However, Indian authorities have refuted Trump’s claims, stating that the ceasefire agreement was a result of direct communication between the military officials of both countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar have also denied any third-party involvement in establishing the ceasefire. Trump also commented on the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
