Donald Trump has once again weighed in on the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming that not being awarded the prize would represent a significant offense, not just to him, but to the United States as a whole. He asserts that he has brought an end to seven significant international conflicts, and views the potential resolution of the Gaza conflict as his eighth major accomplishment.
This pronouncement arrives in the lead-up to the October 10th announcement of the Nobel Prizes. Trump has a history of discussing the prestigious award. In 2024, he suggested that he would have swiftly received the Nobel had his name been Obama. He contrasted this with his own experience, which involved winning an election. He has reiterated this perspective in his recent statements.
During a conversation with officials at the Quantico military headquarters in Virginia on Tuesday, Trump said, “We’ve essentially solved the Gaza issue. Now we see if Hamas agrees. If they don’t, they’re going to have problems. The good thing is that all the Arab and Muslim nations have signed off on it, and Israel’s on board.”
Trump elaborated, “Consider it: eight conflicts resolved in eight months – that’s no small feat. But I won’t get the Nobel. The honor will likely go to someone who’s done nothing, or maybe an author who writes a book about Trump’s mind and profits off my labor.”
Trump emphasized that the lack of a Nobel would not be a personal matter but an affront to the nation. “I don’t want this award for myself. America should get it because the world has never seen such an achievement. Resolving eight conflicts is nothing short of a miracle,” he stated.
Reports indicate that seven countries have nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, including Pakistan, Israel, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Rwanda, and Gabon. However, in accordance with Nobel Committee tradition, information regarding nominations is kept confidential for 50 years.
