Although no agreement was reached, the meeting was considered an important step toward peace. President Trump emphasized that a deal was not yet finalized, while President Putin described the talks as thorough and useful. Putin also noted Russia’s strong interest in ending the conflict and acknowledged that there are legitimate concerns that need to be addressed. After three hours of talks, the two leaders held a joint press conference. The war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022, has resulted in extensive loss of life.
