Sushila Karki has been appointed as the Interim Prime Minister of Nepal, a move taking place during a period of significant political unrest. This appointment is seen as a measure to bring stability to the government during a time of transition. The oath of office was administered by President Ramchandra Paudel. There are currently no ministers in Sushila Karki’s interim cabinet. Sushila Karki, a jurist, is the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, and was selected by the Gen Z movement. She previously served as Chief Justice, starting on July 11, 2016. An impeachment motion against Karki was filed in Parliament in 2017 by the Maoist Centre and the Nepali Congress, but it was later rescinded due to public pressure and an interim order from the Supreme Court.
