Amidst ongoing protests in Nepal, Sushila Karki has become the interim Prime Minister. In her first public statement, Karki highlighted the need to address the concerns of the nation’s youth. She referenced the Gen-Z generation, who spearheaded anti-corruption demonstrations, stating the government must act in line with their vision. This generation seeks an end to corruption, better governance, and economic equality.
Karki declared her commitment to combating corruption during her time in office. She noted that she did not initially seek the position but was brought to power due to public support.
She stated that the interim government would not overstay its term, aiming to fulfill its responsibilities and transfer power to the succeeding parliament and ministers.
Elections are scheduled for March 5, following the dissolution of parliament. The new Prime Minister has also pledged to give approximately 10 lakh rupees to the families of those killed by the police. Karki visited a Kathmandu hospital on Friday to check on the injured.
