Sri Lankan authorities has imposed a curfew until Monday morning to quell all protests over the present financial disaster.

Sri Lankan authorities have imposed a 36-hour nationwide curfew until Monday morning to curb protests amid the worsening financial scenario.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared a state of emergency on Saturday, a day after indignant protesters demonstrated close to his residence demanding his resignation over the present financial disaster.

The authorities has termed the violent demonstration close to President Rajapaksa’s residence as “an act of terrorism” and blamed “extremist elements” linked to opposition events for the incident.
