In response to worldwide instability, North Korea has built a secretive military installation. According to an assessment by an American think tank, the government led by Kim Jong-un has stationed nine nuclear missiles and their launchers at this base, prepared for potential strikes against enemy nations in a crisis. This base, known as Sinpung-dang, is located just 27 kilometers from the Chinese border.
No official comments have been made by North Korea regarding the base. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute estimates that North Korea possesses around 50 nuclear weapons, with the potential for significant destruction.
Details of the Sinpung-dang Base: The base is positioned near an island within North Pyongan. It’s a mere 27 km from China and approximately 7,000 km from the United States. Japan and South Korea, allies of the United States, are within 100 km. The base is sometimes referred to as a secret base used by China.
The American think tank’s report suggests that the base is extensive and could house at least 15 missiles. North Korea has not released details about the base, which includes an underground system.
Construction commenced in 2004, and it became operational in 2014. North Korean military personnel have been present there since then. The base occupies an area of around 22 square kilometers.
Reasons for the Location: The base’s placement in the mountains, close to China, is strategic. Analysts suggest that North Korea’s leader was very cautious in the base’s construction. North Korea believes that the United States will avoid attacking this base during wartime.
This is because an attack would likely affect China, potentially leading to China entering the conflict against the United States, which could result in a larger war. Therefore, North Korea created the secret base in Sinpung-dang.
Initially, the base was camouflaged with tree branches, but it is now visible.
North Korea’s Adversaries: North Korea’s primary adversary is South Korea. In addition, Japan and the United States are enemies of North Korea. In a war scenario, North Korea might also face the Philippines. This is due to the strong alliance in Asia between the United States, South Korea, the Philippines, and Japan.
North Korea has developed weapons capable of attacking the United States. Kim Jong-un’s sister has confirmed that North Korea will never abandon its nuclear weapons program.
