Protest held in Sri Lankan capital towards proposed wind mill mission by Adani Group

The protesters from the Gotagogama (President Gotabaya go house) gathered on the busy Bambalapitiya sector south of Colombo.

They held placards questioning the dearth of transparency within the awarding of the mission to the Adani Group whereas shouting slogans towards the Indian enterprise conglomerate.

The 500 MW wind mill mission induced a lot storm after final week’s parliamentary oversight committee proceedings.

The remarks made on the committee listening to and later motion by MMC Ferdinando, the state energy entity’s chair to retract them compelled his resignation.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa himself needed to difficulty a counter to Ferdinando’s feedback on the mission.

The Adani Group spokesperson issued an announcement on Monday on the controversy, saying: “Our intent in investing in Sri Lanka is to address the needs of a valued neighbour. As a responsible corporate, we see this as a necessary part of the partnership that our two nations have always shared”.
