Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has responded to events related to the Palhagam attack and Operation Sindoor, stating that Pakistan is open to discussions with India, but hasn’t received any response.
During a public address, Dar confirmed that India never agreed to third-party mediation. He stated that when Pakistan asked US Senator Marco Rubio about the possibility of the US mediating, Rubio denied it. This statement directly contradicts former US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that he had been involved in mediation efforts between India and Pakistan.
Dar also stated that Pakistan is prepared to talk to India on any terms India desires. Pakistan will not be pleading for these talks. He stated that if any country wants to talk, Pakistan would welcome it, because solutions come from talks. He claimed Pakistan is a peace-loving country, and if India doesn’t want to talk, Pakistan won’t force it.
Trump has made more than 30 claims that he helped broker a ceasefire between the two countries since the ceasefire on May 10. He said on many occasions that he helped de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan and that the US would increase trade with both nations if they stopped fighting.
India has repeatedly denied Trump’s claims. India has stated that the ceasefire was a result of direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs). India has consistently maintained that Trump played no role in the matter. The Pakistani Foreign Minister’s statements now expose Trump’s claims.
