A disturbing video depicting the handcuffing and restraint of an Indian student at Newark Liberty International Airport has gone viral, triggering widespread public reaction. The student was held by several US officials and later deported. The footage was initially posted by Kunal Jain, an Indian-American entrepreneur, who expressed his shock and concern, calling the incident a ‘human tragedy’ and tagging the Indian Embassy. The Indian Embassy in New York has since stated they are addressing the matter with local authorities. According to Jain, who was present, the student was speaking in the Haryanvi language and shouting, ‘I am not crazy.’ Jain attempted to assist with translation, but was not permitted to do so. The student was reportedly heard crying, ‘I am not crazy, they are making me crazy. I am not crazy, they are proving me crazy.’
