Israel is intensifying its efforts to seize full control of Gaza. Having already occupied 75% of the region, the Israeli army is now focused on securing the remaining areas. These areas are densely populated with displaced Gazans who are dealing with a lack of essential resources. In the coming days, Israeli ground forces will work together with the air force to increase pressure on Hamas by moving into new areas.
IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir revealed details about the size of the ground forces that will be involved in the new Gaza City operation. To control the 41-kilometer-long and 12-kilometer-wide Gaza Strip, Israel plans to deploy approximately 100,000 soldiers. This translates to roughly 273 soldiers per kilometer for the occupation.
