After the US airstrikes, Iran has issued a warning of severe consequences. An Iranian military spokesperson stated that the attacks have increased the number of ‘legitimate targets’ available to Iran. Ebrahim Zolfaqari, the spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military headquarters, promised that Iran will strike back and called former President Trump “the gambler.” Zolfaqari stated, “Mr Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will be the ones to end it.” Iran’s military has declared it will respond to the US strikes, framing it as an act of self-defense. Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, said that the Iranian military will decide the “time, nature and scale” of its response to the US strikes. Former US President Donald Trump has claimed significant damage resulted from the strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, but the extent of the damage is still being assessed by experts.
