The recent conflict saw the reported deaths of many of the most trusted advisors to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In the wake of these losses, the Supreme Leader has named three individuals to represent him in the National Security Council.
The National Security Council, a central body in Iranian governance, makes key decisions that are ultimately approved by the Supreme Leader. The council has been reorganized after recent events, and Khamenei has chosen his representatives to this important body. These individuals are now considered to be the closest allies to Khamenei within the government.
The individuals selected by Khamenei are Ali Larijani, Ali Shamkhani, and Ahmadian. Larijani is known for his hardline stance and has served as a representative to the Security Council in the past. Shamkhani is a reformist and previously served as the secretary of the Security Council and as Iran’s defense minister. Ahmadian has a background in military and defense and has been a key player in managing behind-the-scenes operations.
