External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was in India on August 18-19, 2025, at the invitation of NSA Ajit Doval. Jaishankar highlighted the critical role of border peace in fostering positive relations between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of resolving border issues and advancing the de-escalation process. The meeting covered a range of international topics, with Jaishankar advocating for a fair and balanced world order and reform of multilateral institutions. He also stressed the need for global economic stability and the fight against terrorism. Wang Yi stated that they have maintained peace and tranquility in the border areas and resumed the Indian pilgrimage to Mount Gang Renpoche and Lake Mapam Yun Tso in the Xijang Autonomous Region. He expressed confidence in deepening cooperation. Wang Yi will participate in the 24th round of Special Representatives’ Talks on the India-China boundary question with India’s SR, NSA Doval.
