Expressing grief over the suicide of Indian girl Mandeep Kaur within the United States, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday assured steps of redressal. The MEA additional acknowledged that the Indian embassy and consulate are in contact with the household of the deceased and native authorities within the US.

Social media platforms and the world stood zapped after Kaur’s suicide hit the bulletin as she had launched a video previous to the suicide. Thousands condoled her loss of life and social media was taken by storm after Mandeep Kaur’s video went viral. In the video, she alleged that her husband Ranjotveer Singh Sandhu had been torturing her. Narrating her ordeal in a video that she uploaded on social media, Kaur could possibly be seen sobbing whereas her youngsters cried within the background.

“The suicide of Mandeep Kaur, an Indian living in New York, was very tragic. Our Consulate in New York is in touch with the local authorities, police, family and the Indian community. Our embassy in Washington DC is in contact with US authorities, who assured us of appropriate action,” MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi mentioned throughout a press briefing.

Bagchi additionally mentioned that the US authorities have assured that perpetrators can be held liable and stringent motion underneath their laws shall be taken.

“Our embassy and consulate in New York are trying their best effort in the investigation and will give assistance to the family members. They are in touch with family members and have close contacts,” the MEA spokesperson mentioned.

Kaur was allegedly tortured by her husband and died by suicide after she publicised her years of traumatic home abuse inflicted by her partner. The distressing video went viral and sparked huge outrage throughout India and overseas.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Mandeep Kaur in Queens, New York under the most tragic circumstances. We are in touch with the US authorities at the Federal and local levels as well as the community. We stand ready to render all assistance,” the Indian consulate in New York City tweeted whereas expressing grief over her demise.
