Former President Donald Trump has escalated rhetoric concerning the Gaza conflict, issuing a direct threat to Hamas that the United States “will have no choice but to go in and kill them” if civilian attacks persist. The former president’s stern warning was delivered via a Truth Social post that rapidly gained widespread attention. He wrote, “If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them.” This statement came on the heels of Trump’s earlier comments from the Oval Office, where he described the grim reality of recovering bodies in Gaza and the slow progression of peace talks. Trump characterized the situation as “a gruesome process” involving the excavation and identification of numerous deceased individuals, many found under debris or in deep underground tunnels. He elaborated on the disturbing nature of the discoveries, noting, “Some of those bodies have been in there a long time, and some are under rubble. They have to remove rubble. Some are in tunnels… that are way down under the earth.” The former president then shifted to the critical matter of weapons, demanding that Hamas comply with the terms of the US-facilitated peace agreement by surrendering its arsenal. “We want the weapons to be given. They have agreed to do it. Now they have to do it. If they don’t do it, we will do it,” he told reporters. Trump’s message regarding disarmament was crystal clear: “They are going to disarm, because they said they were going to disarm. And if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them.” He underscored the seriousness of his intent, stating, “They know I am not playing games.” These pointed remarks were made during a working lunch with Argentinian President Javier Milei, shortly after the US unveiled a substantial $20 billion financial assistance package for Argentina. Trump’s assertive stance signals a potential turning point, implying that the US may resort to military force to achieve disarmament if diplomatic avenues prove ineffective.
