The IAEA is deeply concerned about the growing tensions in the Middle East, particularly after the US launched attacks on key Iranian nuclear sites, escalating the situation. The IAEA Director General, Rafael Grossi, has called for immediate diplomatic action, underscoring the need for negotiations. Grossi has also insisted on the need for IAEA inspectors to have access to Iranian nuclear sites to verify the amount of uranium enriched to 60%. He warned that a failure to de-escalate the situation could lead to unprecedented levels of violence and destruction and could destabilize the global non-proliferation regime.
