US Federal agents shot a woman in Chicago on Sunday following an incident in which she rammed a law enforcement vehicle. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the event, which occurred during routine patrols in Broadview. DHS officials stated that law enforcement officers were rammed by vehicles and surrounded by a group of ten cars. This incident arises amid increasing anti-ICE demonstrations and the Trump administration’s efforts to address unrest in cities led by Democrats.
Details of the incident were shared by Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, on an X post. She stated that at least ten vehicles were used to ram and encircle officers during the confrontation. McLaughlin noted that one of the drivers involved in the vehicle ramming possessed a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement officers were forced to use their weapons and fire defensively at an armed US citizen, a woman, during the encounter.
McLaughlin explained that, during a routine patrol in Broadview, in the same area where law enforcement had faced an assault previously, officers were rammed and surrounded by numerous vehicles. Agents were unable to move their vehicles and exited the vehicles. One of the drivers was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement personnel responded by discharging their weapons in self-defense. Subsequently, the woman drove herself to a hospital for medical attention.
She also mentioned the woman was named in a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intelligence bulletin last week for allegedly sharing personal information about agents and posting online, ‘Hey to all my gang let’s fuck those mother fuckers up, don’t let them take anyone.’ No serious injuries were reported among law enforcement officers. The post also indicated that the Chicago Police Department, led by Pritzker, is not assisting in securing the area and special operations units are being deployed to control the scene.
