A strong earthquake jolted Bangladesh on Friday, with tremors felt in Dhaka and Chittagong. The earthquake’s magnitude was recorded as 7.7. The earthquake’s epicenter was in Myanmar, close to the Bangladesh border. No injuries or fatalities have been reported. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the earthquake occurred at 12:25 PM, with the epicenter in Mandalay, Myanmar. The distance from Dhaka to the epicenter was 597 kilometers. This has been classified as a major seismic event. The USGS indicated that the earthquake originated 16 kilometers north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar, at a depth of 10 kilometers, thus causing the tremors felt in many parts of Bangladesh.
