The earthquake’s epicenter was in Myanmar, close to the Bangladesh border. No injuries or fatalities have been reported. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the earthquake occurred at 12:25 PM, with the epicenter in Mandalay, Myanmar. The distance from Dhaka to the epicenter was 597 kilometers. This has been classified as a major seismic event. The USGS indicated that the earthquake originated 16 kilometers north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar, at a depth of 10 kilometers, thus causing the tremors felt in many parts of Bangladesh.
