Russia has set a new record at the Dubai Airshow 2025 with its largest-ever full-scale weapons exhibition, demonstrating a strong commitment to expanding its international defense partnerships, especially within the Middle East. The exposition, coordinated by ROSOBORONEXPORT, features a broad spectrum of Russia’s most advanced military technologies, prominently including the Su-57E stealth fighter, various missile systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.
With the global defense market poised for significant expansion, estimated to exceed $800 billion over the next decade and the Middle East as a key growth region, Russia’s extensive display of over 850 products is strategically designed to capture market share. The 1,000-square-meter Russian pavilion symbolizes the nation’s growing ambitions in the aerospace and defense sectors.
This comprehensive showcase integrates contributions from major Russian defense entities, including the United Aircraft Corporation and the Tactical Missiles Corporation. More than 30 high-priority systems are on static display, offering potential clients a close-up view of Russia’s latest military hardware. The Su-57E fifth-generation stealth fighter is a central attraction, making its debut in the Middle Eastern market.
The export-ready Su-57E is being offered not just as a direct purchase but also with substantial technology transfer packages, aiming to facilitate local production and development in partner countries. Nations like Saudi Arabia and Egypt are reportedly interested in such next-generation airpower solutions. These comprehensive partnership proposals are valued in the $5-7 billion range and include manufacturing licenses and component production.
The Su-57E’s static presentation includes its internal weapon bays, loaded with advanced missiles such as the RVV-MD2 air-to-air missile, RVV-BD extended-range missile, Kh-38MLE and Kh-69 air-to-surface missiles, the Grom-E1 guided bomb, and the Kh-58UShKE anti-radiation missile. These armaments underscore the fighter’s multi-role combat potential against modern threats.
Further strengthening Russia’s aviation offerings, the IL-76MD-90A(E) heavy airlifter is on display, recognized for its substantial payload and long-range capabilities. The Yak-130M light combat and trainer aircraft is making its world premiere, featuring enhanced avionics and weapon systems. The highly maneuverable Ka-52 attack helicopter will also be featured in flight demonstrations. Additionally, Russia is presenting its cutting-edge Item 177S turbojet engine.
Unmanned systems are a significant component of Russia’s display, with reconnaissance UAVs like the Orlan-10E and Orlan-30, and the combat-proven Lancet-E loitering munition highlighted. The demand for such systems in ISR and precision strike is rapidly growing globally. For the first time at the Dubai Airshow, Russia is exhibiting full-scale air defense systems, including the Pantsir-SMD-E, designed to counter a wide array of aerial threats, including drones. Integrated defense solutions are further showcased with the Dzhigit launcher and Verba MANPADS.
Discussions are expected to center on strategic cooperation, including technology transfer, joint development, and co-production opportunities, catering to the increasing desire for indigenous defense capabilities. Russia’s substantial presence at Dubai Airshow 2025 is a strategic move to enhance its global defense footprint and secure its position as a key international supplier.
