Donald Trump has revealed his choice for the next US Ambassador to India: Sergio Gor. Alongside this role, Gor will also take on the responsibility of Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. The announcement was made on Trump’s Truth Social platform.
Sergio Gor presently holds the position of Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House. Upon approval from the US Senate, he will officially become the permanent US Ambassador to India. This appointment comes after Eric Garcetti’s departure, seven months prior. Sergio Gor will become the 26th US Ambassador to India.
Trump stated that he is confident in Gor, describing him as a close associate and friend. He also expressed his need for someone who can fully execute his plans and work toward the ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) goals, especially within the most populated area in the world.
Gor has a longstanding relationship with Trump, having served as a trusted political and personal confidant. He was instrumental in Trump’s presidential campaign. He contributed to the publication of Trump’s bestselling books and spearheaded a Super PAC (Political Action Committee) in support of Trump.
As Director of the Presidential Personnel Office, Gor played a key part in the hiring process for the Donald Trump administration. Trump commended Gor and his team for efficiently placing around 4,000 ‘America First Patriots’ across different government departments, filling over 95% of available positions.
